Was nur etwas schade ist, dass man nichts zu der in Bau befindlichen, neuen Wiener Linie verloren hat, außer "soll bis Ende des Jahres fertig sein".

After I purchased London, I played it. For some reason I had the non-4GB patch installed, so the usual stuff started happening. Now, the map just infinitely loads. Longest time that I've tried was 25 minutes without any signs of life except the obligatory not responding - responding cycle.

Ich habe auch nie gesagt, dass man bei Gullideckeln 4k-Texturen nehmen sollte. Meiner Meinung nach reichen dort auch schon 512x512-1k Texturen.

Es handelt sich um 4k bis 8k Texturen
Trotzdem sind diese mittlerweile der Standard und Grafikengines sollten solche Grössen ohne weiteres aushalten.

Ich finde tatsächlich als Hardcore-Simulatorspieler das Levelsystem in Tramsim gar nicht so schlecht, daher finde ich dass Tramsim auch für wirkliche Hardcorespieler ist. Dass man mit einem T3 in Düsseldorf fahren kann ist ja auch nicht so realistisch und daher auch "Arcadelike"

Das liegt tatsächlich an einem aktuell noch nicht gefundenen Memory Leak. Sollte aber irgendwann bald mal gefixt sein.

Welche bei LOTUS tatsächlich überhaupt nicht besser ist. Ich habe in Tramsim ca. 30FPS durchgehend, in LOTUS Düsseldorf z.B. nur etwa 15.

ist das jetzt ne Theorie von dir oder bist du "Experte" in dem Gebiet. Immerhin ist Lotus nicht das einzige Game, bei dem erst Features und danach die Optimierung entwickelt werden...
Ich bin gut im Programmieren und habe bereits mit dem Erfahrungen gemacht. Wenn man Code wieder anschaut, findet man den Code oft schlecht (Weil Code lesen tatsächlich überaus schwerer ist als Code schreiben) und dann schreibt man ihn neu. Wenn man in einem Zweierentwicklungsteam ist, welches sowieso eine super langsame Entwicklungsgeschwindigkeit hat, dann frisst das schlussendlich schon eine betrachtliche Zeit.

Wie viel kann man später noch raus holen? Auch jetzt wird Marcel ja versucht haben, halbwegs effizient zu arbeiten. Wie viel Raum zur Optimierung bleibt dort noch?
Das ganze zuerst sehr inperformant zu bauen und später zu überarbeiten ist ein komplett - sorry für den Ausdruck - besemmelter Ansatz. Wenn man das ganze von Anfang an performant programmiert, dann hätte man keine doppelte Arbeit, weil man eh beim Überarbeiten gefühlt 90% vom Code wieder neu schreibt, und der Simulator wäre viel schneller fertig.
