Single articulated Mercedes-Benz bus body produced in Brazil

It was built in 1995 for testing the O400UPA platform. It followed the style of the urban O400 series.

It ran for testing with several companies, but after a short time it was exported to an Arab country.

According to reports from within Mercedes-Benz, in addition to this model, there was an articulated O371, which had the same fate as this O400, however there are no records nor public photographs of this bus.

These were the only articulated full Mercedes-Benz buses manufactured in Brazil.

The chassis derived from this platform was marketed by Mercedes-Benz until 2004, with relative success.

After the turn of the millennium, the O400UPA even threatened the leadership of its main competitor: the Volvo B10M.

Foi fabricado em 1995 para testes da plataforma O400UPA. Seguia o estilo da série O400 urbana.

Rodou por algumas empresas para testes, mas após pouco tempo foi exportado para algum país árabe.

Segundo relatos vindos de dentro da Mercedes-Benz além desse modelo existiu um O371 articulado, que teve o mesmo destino desse O400, porém não há registros

nem fotografias públicas desse ônibus.

Esses foram os únicos Monoblocos da Mercedes-Benz articulados fabricados no Brasil.

O chassi derivado dessa plataforma foi comercializado pela Mercedes-Benz até 2004, com relativo sucesso.

Após a virada para o ano 2000 o O400UPA chegou a ameaçar a liderança de seu principal concorrente: Volvo B10M.
