OMSI 2 won’t start – white box instead of loading screen + black background (crash on startup)

    Hello,

    I am having a serious startup issue with OMSI 2 and I can no longer launch the game at all. I would appreciate some help.

    Problem description

    When I start OMSI 2, the game window opens, however instead of the usual orange OMSI loading bar, I only get a plain white box, and the rest of the screen shows a black background.

    After a few seconds, OMSI freezes and Windows shows a message saying:

    “OMSI 2 is not working properly. The program has been closed.”

    The game then shuts down completely.

    What I have already tried

    I have done the following but the problem still persists:

    • Fully reinstalled OMSI 2 through Steam

    • Removed / uninstalled all DLCs (including Yorkshire Counties / Yorkshire Dark Counties)

    • Tried launching OMSI with no DLCs at all

    • Verified / reconfigured the OMSI game files

    • Removed any recently installed content

    • Restarted PC

    • Updated GPU drivers

    • My PC is a Lenovo LOQ laptop with good specs, so hardware should not be the cause

    None of these steps fixed the issue.

    OMSI is very unpredictable, there could be many reasons for this kind of crash. I am no expert in fixing such issues but I would recomend you send the contents of your logfile. You could also try launching the game as an admin or in compability mode with windows 8 or 7.
