    Official announcement & new tutorial:

We are preparing for BETA 2.1 release, which will introduce new geometries and features onboard the Rathgeber M5.65 tram. One of the main new assets is the heating unit which allows the player to select between 2 different resistor groups for tram heating. We took this opportunity to create a new tutorial explaining all the heating systems of the tram, which will soon be available in BETA 2.1.

We currently aim to release BETA 2.1 by the end of March. We will communicate a more exact date as soon as we'll know.

Just to reiterate: those who bought a Patreon subscription on our page in the past and are no longer our Patrons don't need to pay again for the tram. They will receive it via the email they used when they bought the subscription. A single payment is enough to have access to all future versions of the project, as we progress.

Thank you for your continued support, and see you soon!

    First update of 2025

While we have been heavily focused on our Rocar De Simon V2 project, we managed to do some small improvements on the old M-Wagen. This work enhances various systems of the tram, increasing the functionality. Now we've taken our test tram out for a spin, to showcase the new features.

    Summary of improvements:

🟠 The "Dozler" heating unit has been modelled, allowing the driver to switch between external and internal resistors for more efficient heating. This is done via the reverser key, hence why the front "tower" looks very similar to what we see in the cockpit and in the auxiliary post.

🟠 The emergency braking system of the motor is now fully functional, after adding the safe-guard at the front of the tram, and 3 red levers in the passenger cabin, located next to the doors. Triggering any of these elements will result in an emergency brake application, by dropping the track brakes and opening the sand hoppers.

🟠 The doors can now be depressurised and repressurised, using the 3 levers located next to the doors.

All these features have been modelled using measurements and photo-textures where possible. Work continues on our projects at a low pace, as we don't have much free time on our hands, but we are going forward.

Hello folks! I believe the "-1" volcurve is indeed a fade-in function for the sound. I have just successfully scripted it, as I was curious myself to see if this "-1" actually does something or not, and it looks like it behaved exactly as I wanted it to. I attach a preliminary (WIP) script below.

So the door sound-script that I am working on is made up of 2 distinct sounds. First you have the "puff" that is heard when the door starts opening, and then you have the continuous "hiss" sound that is heard based on the door position, which is the pressure valve adjusting the air pressure based on door position. The "puff" has ~0.5s so I want the hiss to gradually take over the puff for a smooth sound transition. This "-1" solved my issue, based on my initial observations. Hope this helps!

    BETA 2 new features:

    - over 100 new sounds for almost all systems, recorded at MVG museum and HSM museum

    - improved dynamic tram behaviour (acceleration and braking)

    - improved "Ra" (shunting) system which now fully corresponds to reality

    - improved AI behaviour

    - bugfixes

    - EXPERIMENTAL: inertia / gravitational effect for the tram (you will notice the tram starting to move forward / backward if no brake is applied. Note: feature is not realistic at this stage and can be reset or disabled by the player.

    - Die Niveauregulierung funktioniert doch, jedoch wird sie während der Fahrt und nicht wie beim Vorbild nur im Stand durchgeführt.

From my observations of the older Citaros (aka everything before C2), the ECAS levelling can be done while the vehicle is in motion aswell, but the tolerance is not as strict as when the vehicle is standing. The only time when I observe the ECAS doesn't adjust is when the vehicle is braking, or when the doors are open. But maybe I'm wrong?

I don't know if they can do the levelling while in motion, I mean the pressures in the dampers would vary rather extremely depending on the bumpiness of road the bus is travelling on. If it's true, then probably the system only monitors a minimum pressure to avoid it getting beached on its floor. However the signature of the O530 is the rather violent and sometimes repeated levelling while standing still. I used to live near a bus terminus, so every time I've got on the bus, it was still standing there for a few minutes. I remember this levelling happening like once every 30 seconds, shaking the bus from side to side, it was always a fun experience, which is missing from this addon.

It's a trademark for Citaros, I agree. The ones in Bucharest do the same repeated adjustments, but not if the doors are open! Only at traffic lighs. Surely they can level in motion too because otherwise they would just be dragged on the road after a few kilometers. It's not a perfect system, it has air losses depending on maintenance aswell, and remember that these buses also drive significant distances on highways and the likes. But the leveling in motion is something you can only hear, because at the speed the bus is moving it's impossible to actually see it. And once the bus has stopped, then it can adjust more effectively and you see that roller-coaster motion... :D

Regarding the ECAS script, I only had a very very brief look at it and it may be optimised. But, one would rather wait to see if there are any updates from Kajosoft. ^^

I tried this Add-On for a few days and I wanted to share my thoughts and a bit of constructive feedback.

First of all, I think that this bus is an excellent platform for players and modders to use, for many years going forward. It has a huge number of customisable assets that people can use and build upon. I believe that a valuable Add-On is versatile and can be used for a long time. To my opinion, this one definitely is, as you have a wide range of features. All in all, to my opinion it is good quality for money and it is worthy to be bought.

There are also some negative points that I wanted to discuss about, constructively.

First of all, the 600 repaints package is way, way too much. The problem is that none of the repaints have the level of detail (logos, writings, signs, etc.) that would make them feel realistic. They are just colour patterns, while occupying massive disk space. Okay, one could argue that it was to showcase setvars, but that is very inefficient when you already have a very good setvar "tablet" which you can use to customise your bus directly. Then, of course, when you make so many repaints, you are inviting people to comment "did you make X, Y, Z city?" and one can never please everybody. What I believe it should have been done was to make maximum 10-15 repaints per bus, with mostly fictional liveries for existing and popular OMSI maps. This way, you wouldn't bother with copyright issues (please correct me if I'm wrong!), while still providing valuable repaints for the player to use. I believe that making so many repaints was not an efficient use of time. I wanted to share this feedback as this can be a "lesson learned" for all developers in the future.

Furthermore, there are a few features which the Alterr + Morphi Citaro has and this one hasn't, which inevitably leads to unfair comparisons between the freeware and the payware model. I particularly miss the Retarder lever under the steering wheel, which could have been an excellent [setvar]. The scripts for the VDV screen are less realistic than the ones on the Alterr + Morphi Citaro (with payware driver console, to be fair). These are the aspects that I can comment on objectively. I also absolutely agree that maybe some of the stuff I pointed out will come as mods further down the line, which I think is completely fine.

I won't go in great detail, but one more feature I miss is the exterior opening of the first door by the driver. The flap located above the right set of headlights is a plain texture, which is disappointing. It could have been an excellent [setvar] to have the exterior door command either on the flap above the headlights, or on the flap leading to the fuel tank, like so many Citaros have.

All in all, my view of this Add-On is really positive, and I hope my brief insight was useful and respectful. Apologies for writing in English. If any of you want to reply to my message, please feel free to do it in Deutsch and I will translate myself.
