That was a problem I had with the release version as well, solved by simplifying the cockpit.osc script: it's worth having a look into it as it has too many lines of code to check the vehicle number.
It's better to convert it to float and then check if it falls within a range, if possible, so you can save some a little memory and avoid the problem.

The situation is a bit more complicated ... One hears that OMSI can no longer be further developed due to legal difficulties (the original development team has split up, but was jointly responsible for the development).
Indeed; my thought was just to convey a "general hope" that one from afar may have. It's more than well known that we have to make do with what we have, as in the market there just isn't anything that fits the needs, or makes you feel invested in any way.
After all these years I still feel like playing and tinkering with OMSI and its related content, As an example, I can say that I can't wait to play Lemmental-Neuenbreid or Ahlheim V5. LOTUS at this time has nothing to offer; as I already stated, many would have expected something more than a sandbox in which there are no toys to play with
I saw some queries in the LOTUS forum related to the state-of-the-art of the simulator. If one was to only listen to them, it seems that huge progress was made. Surely "under the hood" something must have changed, but nothing's tangible for the potential buyers.
I can't count a badly imported Citaro/Citaro G as content. Same goes for the Urbino. I mean, it isn't even ok as proof of concept; as I saw in some videos, the physics is a bit on the hilarious side.
Then there's the question of the containerized content and Steam Workshop delivery, but that's a different topic. It might be a bit more ideological, but I have the feeling it being in place limits the modding capabilities.

32 or 64bits won't make much of a difference. Either your piece of software runs good or it doesn't. Having extra addressable memory isn't the solution.
I think it's safe to say that everyone had his/her expectations about what could have been a "better OMSI", but, as time told and will continue to tell, there's nothing much to expect. The amount of goals Marcel set for himself is just insourmountable and the results speak for themselves.
Then there's the topic of the, as I like to call it, "economic manouver" they did to fund the developement. Willfully "killing" OMSI to fool people (including me) into buying an empty husk. That really did it. How could anyone ever trust again someone that does such things?
I do really hope that LOTUS content creators are not making ticket vending machines or other scenary objects just to stare at them in an empty map...
One could hope (or rather dream) of a little quality of life patch for OMSI, but then you remember that in the deal there are the stubborn developer that's way too invested into his neverending project and won't do anything with what he basically declared dead, and then there's the editor/publisher that deems uneconomical to do anything with it. OMSI was and still is a niche bus simulator after all.
