Given the fact that the tram itself, as it was built by the original author, is looking okay, and the driver's cabin has pretty much all the switches and knobs already present, we have decided, until further notice, to stick to scripting only for the BETA version. We will focus on modelling all the systems and obtaining genuine, high quality sounds for everything. We will not be doing any geometry or retexturing for the BETA, this will be done after the BETA release, working towards the V1.0 public release.

We have also settled for how we want to deliver updates across all platforms. On Patreon, we will post detailed, weekly updates, with images and or videos, or even sound samples that will go on the tram. On Facebook and WebDisk we will put brief, monthly updates about the main work that has been done in the last month. We want our patrons to get the best value for their money, and that's what we are trying to do.

This being said, although for the last updates we have been starting slowly, the next updates will be way more interesting, to our opinion. The pace is picking up. We have made HUGE progress on Rathgeber's systems this past week. We will start presenting each system in detail (we have prepared photos and videos), starting from next week. We are very excited, and we hope you are as well, so see you then!

We are thrilled to announce our new mega-project: BLUE TRAM PROJECT. We will recreate a tram that is very special for us, which ran in München (DE), and later in Bucharest (RO) - Rathgeber M5.65.

CONTEXT: the tram that you see in the images above was originally created by MichauSto , who later abandoned the project (without making it public). In the winter of 2020, RomanianWorks contacted the author of the tram and proposed that we take over and finalise the project. The answer was positive, and so the work begun on the tram, albeit at a low pace, while working on our Rocar De Simon main project. First we extracted a big number of genuine sounds for the tram. Then, last month, the model was imported in Blender to continue working on it. Besides the new sounds, the oldtimer Rathgeber needs massive geometry, script and texture overhauls. Which we will carry out. In time...

ABOUT THE PROJECT: the way we are handling BLUE TRAM PROJECT is different from our last project (Rocar De Simon). We still want to have a BETA version of the tram before final V1.0 release, however it will NOT be public. It will only be available to our GOLD patrons. Moreover, our Patreon page is where we will post the majority of status updates, various materials and behind the scenes of the Blue Tram Project.

One thing will remain the same: BLUE TRAM PROJECT will be 100% free for download upon V1.0 release. We are saying it loud and clear.

So, without further ado, welcome to BLUE TRAM PROJECT by RomanianWorks! We hope you are as excited as we are.

    Yes, I'm still alive.

Yes, the project is still going, and getting closer and closer to its release.

The matrix control, announcement, suspension and door scripts have been overhauled (the former 2 thanks to MihAMi02 ).

Geometry was improved (including textures), as well as several sounds.

The number of repaints/setvars has doubled since the beta release. Here's just an example (still WIP), true to the original.

I wish to add a function for height adjustment (with 2 buttons, one for raising and the other for lowering the ground clearance) and another function that "resets" the height to the default position from a third button. I want to do the work to the NL92 bremse script.

    How can I do this?

The project is going forward. I have overhauled many sounds (engine, doors, brakes) which will add to an even more immersive gaming experience while driving this bus. In the meantime, here's a throwback to november 2019, when the project had just been exported to Omsi.

// Please do not use black font colour. You will not be able to see this in the OMSIWebdisk in the dark themes. If you want to write in black, please use "Remove font colour". Thanks a lot!. -NiLe

Since the release of this project in v0.7 BETA, many things have been added or changed. All the bugs in the previous post (and some more I found later on) were fixed, many sounds were fully replaced, passenger positions were corrected and more real-life functions have been scripted (i.e. roof hatches, audio announcements, kneeling), making the bus (almost) a full representation of the original.

Next in line: improving textures, re-scripting the matrix console and adding the 3-step retarder.

Is there a constant for the damper variation of the doors, as there are for speed and acceleration variations? I set the damper at a pretty high value (let's say, 32), but I have no control of its variation, such that when I spawn a bus, the damper can have any value between 0 and 32. When the value is too low, the doors slam. I was looking to see if this variation is somehow "hard-coded" in the .osc, but I didn't find anything useful.

For the record, I am using standard M&R scripts.

    SOLVED

How can I change sounds using [cti] variables? There used to be a tutorial on the MOF, but it has since been deleted and I can't remember what it said.

    Thank you very much!

    2) (...) you could however add a logic that will display it centered.

How should I write this logic? I assume it has to divide the available space for the line number in three and always take the "middle" position.

Regarding questions 4) and 5), I attach the door script so you may look at it.

Since my question topics on MOF have been closed (along with the entire forum, I supose), I will ask here.

    1. I managed to make the flip-dot fonts, but, as you can see in the picture, the letters in short words are still as spaced as in the Krueger Vollmatrix. How can I bring them closer at center? The same goes for the two rows (so "Bad" and "Warmfeld" are closer).

    2. Also matrix-related: I want the vollmatrix to use as much width as needed in case only a destination/message is shown, but if a line number is also displayed, I want that the maximum space for the destination/message does not exceed the width taken by "Warmfeld" in the picture above (regardless if the line number is a single-digit, 2-digit or 3-digit; should it be a 4-digit number, of course, the available destination space will be narrower, but that isn't my main concern here). Specifically, can the line number be centered, as in the Annax?

    3. I noticed that, when the bus is AI-driven, the ground clearance is quite smaller than when I drive it. What script should I modify in order that the ground clearance in AI mode is a bit higher?

    4. I managed to make the doors open only if the station brake is active, but this brake can be deactivated even if the doors are still open (which leads to the very thing I wanted to avoid in the first place i.e. driving with them opened). What must I modify such that the station brake won't deactivate unless the doors are closed?

    5. Still door-related: this one's a bit tricky: when I press the stop request button, I have to manually open said door once the station brake is active (which does well for me). I also want some external door buttons for passengers to use, such that when they are pressed, the doors will open automatically once the station brake is activated. These external buttons have a switch on the dashboard that (de)activates them (i.e. when it's off, the buttons won't work at all, so the entire [withbutton] thing in thr script is rendered useless). Regarding this on/off switch, I was thinking to assign a [visible] command to it, so the "off" position will "replace" the functioning buttons with a set of identical but static ones. Is it a good idea, or the passengers will still "recognize" the buttons? As of the automatic door opening caused by these buttons, I have no idea how to script it.

    Thanks!

Sadly there will not be an Italian version in a foreseeable future. My aim in OMSI is centered around buses that had significance in Romania, as our country isn't almost at all represented in the simulator (with the notable exception of a Bucharest repaint on the Busotto), and more specifically finishing this current project.

As of the original Inbus, "phaiderikos" from the MOF (I'm not sure if he has a WebDisk account) started a long time ago the Siccar 176 (or 177?) based version. Unfortunately, he was unable to continue it due to many (I suppose including personal) reasons. If he, an Italian that is fortunate enough to still enjoy the sight of such buses "in flesh and bones", put the project aside, then I, a Romanian from a country that had exactly one second-hand Inbus many-many years ago and 99.99% surely scrapped by now, don't stand a chance to do it on my own (mainly due to lack of proper support photos; which is why the Rocar was made at an otherwise fairly good eye approximation, as the only surviving example that I could've reached is derelict beyond hope and to find a running one I had to travel at least 400 km and be granted access in the depots, which is difficult around here if you don't know the right people, plus my lack of time). Should he ever resume working on this project, I would gladly give him a helping hand.

    Type of project: (Bus)

Name of project: Rocar De Simon family

    Involved persons: Renault_Safra_ER100, alexredx, MihAMi02

    Help needed: no, so far

Details: A break from the German buses presented around here and also the first (partially) Romanian bus in OMSI. :)

This bus was produced by Rocar (for many years the only Romanian bus manufacturer) between 1995 and 2003, based on a De Simon-licensed body. Although the Italian flavour is obvious, bearing resemblances with the ubiquitous Inbus U210FT, the Romanian-made versions had significant differences given by the German-sourced components (such as the MAN D0826LUH engine, the Voith D851 transmission) and domestic ones (the flip-dot matrix and announcement system). Around 370 buses were made in the 8-year course, the vast majority of them (340) ending up at RATB (Regia Autonomă de Transport București - Bucharest's public transport operator). The last of these were withdrawn in august 2011.

This mod is intended to recreate the most known versions of the bus. The first one will be the most wide-spread, U412-260. Other derivatives are planned and will be shown at the right time.

Below is a chronologic sequence of screenshots representing the bus in various building stages.
