Highly advanced pack of Urbino III Family.

It is the day, when this project finally sees a public release. Urbino III pack has become mature enough for such release. Pack may seem not that big (only U12 and U18 length variants) but it's full of content within itself. There are 14 different variants - diesel/CNG, hybrid and electric. Additionally, U12 have MAN D2066 variant available (based on Munich, VTF Teltow and demo prototype U12UE). There are 153 setvars available, which gives endless configuration possibilites. Among more important ones - 12 engines types + MAN D20 as separate version. 4+1 dashboards (MOKI2, MOKI2 E6, VDO FAP, Continental MOKI3, Actia I and in BEV variants TouchDash). In fact endless cabin configurations, a lot of door types, a lot of matrix configurations, different IBIS devices that are different for each variant.

This pack also have never-before-seen level of simulation layer. Whole scriptbase got huge rework to add more features. It has behavioral simulation of CAN-bus, realistic MTS behaviour, Wabco ATC also behaves like in a real bus. Dashboard, namely the green VDV display has it's in 1:1 scale, icons, fonts and texts. Messages were dumped directly from physicals displays. ECAS and EBS behaviour also got changed to give it more realistic feeling compared to standard scriptbase.

From cons, you need to know that those busses tend to have very long loading times. Also, you must have 4GB patch installed, and texture memory set to 0.0 mb in OMSI settings, to avoid black textures.

Pack will get updated over time with more versions (such as U10 or U15), but for the time being I'm satisfied with the level of sophistication, so I decided to release it as public, to have more 'free room' to work on my other projects that are WIP.

I'd like to say a massive thank you to all my patreons for the support during whole development cycle of this project. Without you, this couldn't ever be achieved to release it on this level as a public free project.

  • I have an issue with the AFR4 IBIS. If i use it in any map heavier than Grundorf, it gets stuck in 'Bitte warten', it doesnt work at all and i cannot make the display work because setting the line manually via the 92 menu also doesnt do anything. This only happens with the AFR4, i dont have any issues with the other IBIS controllers.


    As a result, the U12 2D and the U18 3D are basically unusable as i cannot make the display work in any way. Is there a way to change the controller to something like the Siemens, or its too complicated?

  • I still missing "Ä, Ö, Ü" on the matrix display.

    But i think the SensoTop in the Voith Gearbox doesnt work right.

    In my video i was on a road gradient and the bus upshifted instantly on my "max sped shift up"

    I deactivated kickdown in the constfile, on porpose. In the following video i pressed Kickdown(doesnt matter if kd or accelerator 0,4 oder 0,8 whatever) on my pedals, so normally he has to (shiftdown and) increase the rpm to a point where its good to shift up, but he didnt.

    Could you help me @Sobol

    • With disabled kickdown voith will behave like this, and will not do kickdown. Urbino actually does this, but it's really hard to find a good example of how it really should be scripted, bcs variety of different states of those gearboxes (after 1 mln kms with bad maintenence will behave different to one with 500k kms with good maintnence, and it can even vary from more or less exact same 2 busses). The script can bug rarely, but as for my tests, uphill mode with kickdown enabled, behaves like it should, with kickdown disabled as well.

      To be more exact, 'kickdown disabled' mode is actually 'economy' mode on gearbox. And it will be the same for how you configure it with diagnostic software, you either have kickdown enabled and gearbox being more 'alive' to say, or you have it disabled, and gearbox will try to maintain lowest RPMs as possible, and do a kickdown only if RPMs go too low. I had sensotop enabled with kickdown, but it was acting up with lower-end HP configurations and with kickdown disabled. And yes, those busses can get very slow.

      As for video - real TCU will also command to do low shifts, bcs if the kickdown is disabled, and bus is going uphill at more or less steady rate at 35-50km/h, it will be happy enough to shift down.

      I know i could easily activate Kickdown but in many cities the kickdown in solaris is deactivated. I am a busdriver and in my city the gas pedal has kickdown but its deactivated in the voith tool. Yes its very annoying, so often i drive with 1,2,3 to get better acceleration :D

      But i can give u an example (different translation):


      1. Example 3to4 without gradient

      • ~low-mid throttle shiftup 3->4 ~32km/h (this is lowest shiftup so minspdshiftup)

      • Full throttle shiftup 3->4 ~40km/h


      but if u are at f.e. 34km/h and 4. gear and you go from low/mid throttle to full throttle he will shiftdown to 3. gear and accelerate to ~40km/h. Yes very aggressive driving in solaris.


      2. Example gradient 6%

      • all shiftups are a little big later i think around 8 km/h but its variable

      • shiftdown (if necessary) with throttle is earlier


      3. Example gradient 13% (extreme)

      • full throttle all shiftups are at the kickdown shiftup speed so 3->4 around 58km/h. So maximum acceleration.

      • mid throttle: at kickdown shiftup point too

      • shiftdown with throttle: aggressevily at kickdown shiftdown point

      • shiftdown with 0 throttle: at normal shiftdown point so around 31km/h 4->3


      4. Example gradient Minus -6%

      • all shiftups are a little bit earlier maybe 4 km/h but not before the lowest shiftup.

      • no shiftdowns with throttle



      So all in one, the switching points depend on the accelerator pedal position, (load) and topography


      I dont know if its in omsi possible to recognize that the bus is on a gradient or not.

    • It is really hard to script that consistently in OMSI without gearbox acting up in non-uphill situations. For example with aforementioned lower HP engine configurations.

    • The aforementioned example was a bus Urbino 12 with 314PS, so not lower HP Engine :D


      Yes its difficult to tell omsi that there is a uphill or not.

      Maybe with some bypass in script f.e.

      "If speed goes down despite (constant) throttle position, then force shiftdown under Kickdown Shiftdwn value"

      Something like that maybe ?

  • This busses is great, but sometimes on terminus, some passengers didn't get out, but if I drove a bit, some will move and I have to do it to get out them all.

    I have a small problem with the vehicle.

    If I want to drive the Solaris as an AI bus on a map,

    It spawns normally but then doesn't drive, so it stops where it spawns. Maybe someone can tell me how to fix this?

  • Why dont the passenger speak ?

    • this is usually not the bus's fault

    • Maximise amount of sounds in sounds section in options. As mentioned, it's not a fault in the bus, more likely to be a problem with number of sounds the bus has.

    • Das sind so genannte Platzhalter damit das Fahrzeug Menü schneller die Bus Auswahl spawn. Du musst dann ein repaint wählen was mitgeliefert wird. Mit der "Do not use" datei geht das nicht.

  • wenn ich die datei Urbino III 2.10s.7z entpacke oder denn ordner vehicels da drin in omsi ordner rüber schieben will kommt immer nachricht fehler beim schreiben in die datei archiv urbino III 2.10s.7z () in der klammer steht wi die urbino datei liegt

    • Can be seen and adjusted under "Türfreigabe/Haltestellenbremse" (?) in keybinds section in options.

    • Ja, die Addons werden nur für die Motor Sounds benötigt, diese kann man aber per Setvar ändern.

  • Hi, the bus is really nice and drives well. But the bus doesen't work as AI, it's unable to move or open doors when placed into an AI List. Other than that it's a good bus.

    • i wouldnt recommend using this bus as ai as its really detailed which will leed to FPS drops. use sobols static pack

    • there is another urbino III AI only pack from sobol, give that a try

    • Du hast wahrscheinlich das DLC zum Sound nicht. Prüfe mal die Setvar.

  • Hello Sobol, the bus itself is very well done and I like it a lot. Unfortunately, the vehicle drives better without passengers than with passengers. DAF Euro 5 and 360 HP without passengers with very good acceleration, but as soon as 3 passengers sit in the back, the bus accelerates from 0 to 50 in 5 minutes.

  • Could you add a Urbino 12 LE Ü Version with Single Front door and Double Back door to?

    • Beides nicht. Drucker ist per Hand zu tauschen, Innenanzeige gibts nicht

  • is it possible that something is wrong with the rear Matrix in the U18 3D Hybrid? I selected a wide rear Matrix but it shows me the "small" Window for the Matrix ingame and the Text for the wide Matrix.

    • You need to select correct layer on the template. Refer to other included repaints.

  • Die verschiedenen Versionen sind super und bin auch totaler fan von dem pack. Bei mir konnte ich allerdings nur 1 mal einen bus spawnen danach waren alle bus repaints weiß.


    The different versions are great, and I'm a huge fan of the pack. However, I was only able to spawn a bus once, and after that, all the bus repaints were white.

    Die Sounds vom Bus sind top, das muss man sagen. :heart:
    Die Physik ist etwas speziell. Heißt man muss erst mit ihr warm werden, damit man mit dem Bus gut klar kommt.

    Ich habe mir diesen Bus installiert, soweit alles sehr gut. Fahrphysik ist mangelware und über die Sounds lässt sich streiten.


    wollte mal in OMSI einen anderen Bus Spawnen und bekomme einen D3ll fehler der kein Spawn zulässt. Seit der Installation werden bei mir keine Busse geladen werden. Musste OMSI komplett neuinstallieren und hab nun den Salat.


    Ich wünsche allen viel Spaß die seit Jahren Maps und busse installieren. macht das auch mal

  • A good replacement for Alterr's Solaris III

    Well well,

    we all know Alterr's Solaris III was, how do you say it, ... outdated. I drove it just so I could experience the Solaris III series. Now that Sobol released their rendition of this bus to the public, I must say this is an awesome bus! I already drove the Hybrid 18 Metre and D20 solo 12 Metre and they both are fun busses!

    Pros:

    better Solaris III than Alterr

    awesome sounds

    best VDV to date (yes, even better than Urbino II / Morphi Citaro!)

    Diesel, hybrid and electric busses

    Whole and seperated front windows

    Awesome "secound person perspective (esp. front seat)

    Neutral:

    Not every Bus seems to have every IBIS, however I did not look whether you can change it by setvar

    "Only" 12 and 18 Metre versions avavible (note: vanilla Alterr also only has those versions!

    Cons:

    Long loading times. Note: There is a dummy bus file which always loads first, so you do not have to load a version you do not want to use

    Conclusion:

    This bus rivals most payware addons. I wish sobol and all the beta testers on patreon the best!

    as per long loading times I'm aware of them, but unless I would reduce amount of content included in pack I can't make loading times any shorter.

    IBIS device changes depending on the version selected. Included are: R&G SRG-4000P, SRG-5000P, Siemens-HPW MAS3, Atron AFR4. U12 2D, U18 3D have IBIS/Drucker devices that are suitable for them (german), U12 3D, U18 4D have mentioned SRG (polish). This is an attempt to make everyone happy, and by including variety of IBIS devices, I aim for these to be interchangable by simply editing configuration files (without the need to use blender, and re-export all o3d files to replace IBIS/Drucker with something else).
