  • What is preferred to put in direction helpers (arrows) text? 12

    1. Bus line numbers (5) 42%
    2. Terminus/es abbrevations (like on Hamburg DLC) (2) 17%
    3. Dynamic helpers (orange ones) (5) 42%

So, what is preffered in OMSI community? I'm divided between option 1 and 2, but I'm eager to see what's opinion about dynamic helpers as well (although I don't like them much).

Hat den Titel des Themas von „Route helpers label - lines numbers or heading direction“ zu „Route helpers label - lines numbers or terminus abbreviation“ geändert.
  • I think you should make your choice based on the situation on your map - if there are many diffrent variants of one line (one is running the whole way, another is only running halfway and so on), you should use terminus abbreviations, in case of doubt with a "via XY" or the line number (if there are more than one line with the same terminus but not the same way). This makes it easier for the player to find the right way (at least in my opinion). But if you have (nearly) no variation of possible tracks of one line, I recommend to use the line number, just because you have to write and read less (faster ;D)

I hope my thougths helped you at least a little : )

  • Usually I prefer the all lines option, however, if let's say you have a similar situation to Bf. Altona, but the line does not terminate there and exits into two different directions on the main road, you should add the terminus name. Another system I've seen is to write the next stop on the arrow. Very useful if there are multiple variations per line or just a huge amount of lines going in the same direction like on Lahnau V4. So, if you need this data for your map, also take into account the Lahnau method.
