  • Hello! I am another developer for the Aberdeen map. Here are some more progress pictures.

  • Continuing development and progress on more parts of the map! Took the ADL Enviro 400 around the city -- some things need to be altered, for example, some signs are too low and thus clip into the top of the vehicle. However, the bus still manages to squeeze below the traffic lights at most intersections!

We have been hard at work, creating a completely new area recently. Screenshots to come next week!

  • More pictures from the latest development! This time it's across the river and near the depot area.

  • Hey,

Nice repaint design so far. Some shots in the daylight would be highly appreciated to see the little details better. :)

I would be interested in translating some documents into German. If you're interested as well, just pm me.

  • The Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the most pieces of modern art in North America. The project was approved to be built in 2009, and recently finished in 2016. This building alone increased the amount of tourists in the city by a large amount, which prompted the city to move several routes to terminate at the art gallery. Aside from being one of the major tourist attractions in the city, the gallery is also located in the heart of the financial district of Aberdeen.

  • New Year's Progress for Aberdeen!

We have not updated this thread since last month, but we assure you that map progress is still taking place! A few updates for you in the meantime:

    1. The road network that will be present for version 1.0 of the map has been fully completed!

As of the new year, we have completed the road network for the final area of the map that will be included in the first release. This area is the Waterfront Public Market, and will be serviced by both Route 7 and Route 17. This is going to be a heavy tourist area and will feature a pedestrian friendly environment.

This is the terminus bus loop that will be featured in the area. There will be scenery added in the very near future, and we can't wait to show you more of the progress as we continue detailing the area.

On the other side of the map, our other developer has been hard at work creating an authentic depot experience. Referring to the map (on the original thread), the Victoria Garage is located across the river from Pacific Central Station, and features a large complex for bus storage. It is one of many depots that will be featured in future versions of the map!

As you may also notice in the last screenshot, we are introducing a new AMB subsidiary to the world of Aberdeen named AirLink. This service, which features a repaint similar to the Sound Transit livery in Seattle in real life, will operate the express line that connects Aberdeen International Airport to the Waterfront district in Downtown Aberdeen. We will have more news about the fleet coming soon!

In other news, we have also revamped some of the older parts of the map from earlier in the development process. In particular, intersections from the earliest parts of the map are being upgraded so they better reflect a more realistic layout. The pictures below show the shoulder extension upgrade for the Washington/Norman/Broadway intersection (from the second post in this thread back in Summer 2020!)

    2. In case you missed it, we released a care package a couple of weeks ago to get you ready for the map release!

While we were hard at work continuing progress on the map throughout the Christmas season, we also wanted to create something special for the community that has been so supportive of our efforts this past year. In light of this, we created a Christmas Care Package, which includes postcards and a custom splashscreen. Make sure to check that out if you haven't already!

    3. Beta Testing applications have been released!

Since we are nearing the conclusion of the first release of the map, we are beginning to open applications for Beta Testing. Please note that the roll-out of the first beta is unlikely to happen before reading break/spring break, however, applications will be reviewed on a first-come-first-serve basis, as well as quality of application and experience in OMSI 2 development. We encourage everyone to apply, however, there will be a limited number of copies distributed for the beta program.

We are also hoping to involve the international OMSI 2 community in the Beta Testing program as we believe that input from players outside of the North American OMSI community is very valuable. If you are from Europe or any other place in the world, we would love to have you on the Beta Testing Team and would appreciate the feedback that you provide. Please do take the moment to apply for a position in Beta Testing!

  • Planned Fleet, AI Lists, & Repaints Rollout!

Map progress is continuing strongly into the first month of the year! Today, we would like to share some news about our plans for the map's planned AI lists, and showcase some of the repaints that have been generously designed and made by Ale041 !

    1. Design of the Repaints

Aberdeen Motorbus Company (AMB) operates under two distinct liveries: the Sweep "Red" Standard and the Airlink Livery, a subsidiary operated in partnership with Aberdeen International Airport. The original design of the Sweep "Red" Standard was created by Ale041 and takes heavy inspiration from the design seen in Amsterdam, Netherlands for "R-Net". The AirLink livery on the other hand, was designed by reappearings (Co-Founder of NorthWest Studios) and takes inspiration from the real life livery of the Sound Transit system in Seattle, Washington.

There is also a third livery that AMB has operated with in the past, which was replaced by the Sweep "Red" Standard at the turn of the millennium. This repaint is currently being designed and will be featured in a later patch for Aberdeen (after the official v1.0 release). The plan is to introduce this livery with the "Chrono" Update, which will feature additional scenarios, including a late 90's version of Aberdeen and construction events.

    2. Planned AI Lists

We plan to release several AI-Lists for the map so that the choices cater to both the American and European OMSI 2 community. The default AI-List will include only the buses from the Chicago DLC, which is a requirement for the map.
