  • Good morning and Happy New Year 2024!

I would like to ask a question about DirectX:

Since I have installed Steam on C: drive (SSD Samsung 980) and the Omsi 2 on another drive I: (external SSD Samsung T7 Shield USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 1.050/1.000 MB/s read/write), I should something different with the DirectX9 installation?

I mean if I should also do an install of the DirectX folder (as copy/paste from the Steam folder) in the main Omsi 2 installation folder as well or something else?

I generally don't have any problems with my installation, apart from the usual "Omsi issues", but lately I've been seeing some problems with DirectX functionality in my log file.

Some times have errors like direct9 error: E_fail (-2147467259) message, but the game run smooth without any white objects or something else bad impact.

I watch my pc clocks and the ram (16gb, xmp 3.200MHz) runs at 50%, cpu (intel i7 9700k @4.9GHz) runs at 40% and gpu (RTX 3080 10gb) runs at 35%.

BTW I have another "strange issue" without any impact at the generally at the game but is uncomfortable for me.

All installations (maps, bus etc.) don't have alphabetical order, but appear in-game according to installation date.

So while in the game folders everything is sorted alphabetically, inside the game the maps and buses are sorted by installation date.

    That's very strange.

Has anything similar been reported again?

Can change the order of that?

PS: I always and constantly renew the use of 4gb patch and my pc run @windows 10 pro.

    What would be your advice?

    PC Specs:

    Processor + cooler: Intel i7 9700k @ 3.6-4.9 GHz + Noctua NH-D15 ; Graphics card: Gigabyte Aorus Master RTX 3080 ; RAM: 16GB DDR4-3200 CL16 ; Storage: X3 Samsung 960 Evo 1TB SSD ; Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS MASTER ; Power Supply: CoolerMaster Silent Pro M2 850W ; Housing: CoolerMaster MasterCase MC500 ; Steering wheel: Simucube 2 Pro

You can just move the game files via steam to your external drive. Steam will do the rest.

Generally, DirectX is global, so any program regardless of its location can use it once DirectX is installed.

Thanks you very much for the reply.

I have already done the installation of omsi on the external ssd during few weeks.

But why do I have in the log file error entries that involved the DirectX?

  • You can refresh D3D libraries in OMSI main directory.
I've done it (download from microsoft sites) and problems had gone.

Can you give some advice for what library or parts of the library did you refresh?

At my situation the "issue" has gone and don't have DirectX errors anymore at my log file, but who knows with Omsi...:)

To make that happens I have update several times my DirectX installation both at the main windows path, at the main Steam path and at the external SSD with the Omsi installation.

I know what I'm saying is silly (to update DirectX installation multiple at my pc), because in theory you only need one DirectX install on one computer, but MAYBE this worked for me, or so I think :)
