  • try to set the windows regional settings to german, since the file names use german special characters.

The files MUST be there, since it is an official Steam DLC

If they are actually not there, verify the OMSI Game files in Steam

  • Thanks for your help, it seems the system locale change to German fixed the file name reading issue.

I have another question: do all OMSI 2 DLCs require German system locale, or is it only needed for certain maps with special characters in file names?

  • only needed for certain maps with special characters in file names

this. Can be also in freeware maps. Depends on the file names of the used objects.

When you saw once the problems of special characters, you never use them again in your projects. I say: only A-Z, a-z, 0-9, - and _ should be used, whenever it is a file name or technical aspect. Period . should be also fine (I don't recommend, but I have to use it in my workplace and there are no issues about), but everything language specific ÖÄÜß or things like #!§$%&, you know, is bad, I say.

  • that's the other side, there you need to change the regional settings to polish or hungarian. And then don't forget to change depending on the map, you want to play. The real problem is then maybe, when you have a polish bus and a hungarian map or something.
