  • I really miss this topic. It will be a dream to drive it in OMSI 2. I hope, that everything is allright at the team, and I hope, that we will get updates. All the best.

  • Yup, so do I. But it seems fairly dead to me, at least from what the naked eye can see. Perhaps there is a bit more going on with the Scania Suburban project. Either way, it would be a shame if this project wouldn't continue as it looks stunning! But at the same time I understand that the situation is what it is with the devs etcetera.

:zf: kickdown is superior, change my mind

:volvo: polska 7900 is the best, end of story

  • Hi!

I haven't posted for a while out of principle, but to clear things up I have to say this.

Nearly all of my time lately has went to working on the Scania CW Suburban, mainly scripting the drivetrain and other assorted things. Lately sounds as well.

This is not to say that I haven't worked on my personal projects no, as the scripts are all shared between buses. Less work on them later on.

I haven't got much to show for now (and showing screenshots of scripts? who wants that?), which I hope you understand. The Scania is also a bit of a semi-secret for now, it'll be shown later.

    Take care

  • I am very happy to read that this promising project is still alive.

But are all the buses you're currently working on going to be released as DLC on Steam at some point or will you have to buy a Patreon membership to download them via Discord?

In any case, I am looking forward to being able to use the LE buses from Volvo and Scania on my own (semi-fictional) map one day, as I think they fit very well with the school bus and intercity routes there.

  • I don't understand why so many projects are being launched at once? There's always a risk that none of them will be finished.

It's not like they are being created at the same time, there's of course always a risk for everything, even if you have just one project going on there's the risk that it won't be finished.

It's just that when pretty much only two people do these things, it takes time, especially when it's not possible to do them 24/7 and when you want to focus on the quality and experiment with new stuff, it takes it's time.

  • How long it takes is totally irrelevant. Quality can develop within a few weeks or over a period of 5 years. That's not a yardstick — at least for me.

A project takes as long as a project takes. That's not a bad thing.

At the beginning, however, three Volvo vehicles were shown here and now a Scania has been quietly and secretly teased.

Especially when two people are working on it and don't have 24/7 time for it, it would make sense to do fewer projects.

  • Zitat

“The Scania is also a bit of a semi-secret for now, it'll be shown later.”

I must have struck a nerve, otherwise we would be having a serious discussion.

Your colleague wrote that above. You can interpret that however you like.

Yeah semi-secret from webdisk, just because we show several projects that we are planning to make, doesn't mean that they're being worked at the exact same time, or does it?
Of course you can make assumptions about everything, but if you're being told how it is, it shouldn't be a big problem to believe it.

  • You must also understand that things may change over time. Priorities change, team compositions change. People get day jobs. Things just tend to happen, and you cannot predict future. What was relevant ~3 years ago might not be so much in present day. Should I retroactively go and edit forum posts from years back?

For example I spent quite a while working on a map (which would fit these buses) which, in the end, made me understand that creating maps is just not a thing for me. Was it time wasted? Maybe.

As for buses, do I intend to work (with the team) on the ""secret"" Scania Citywide Suburban LE? Certainly.

    The 8700? Of course.

The 8500 & Scania Scala? I wouldn't have went on a trip to neighboring country to gather audiovisual material if I didn't intend to work on them.

Have fun and good luck with your projects. :)

Thanks! And this response was not intended to be hostile, just explaining the situation.

  • In the end, I'm sure it got a bit out of hand and was probably misunderstood by everyone. That happens, but it's no big deal. :)

In any case, I'm really looking forward to your projects, as they look good in terms of quality.

Are you only building the 15 m versions of the vehicles? Are 12 m vehicles also planned? After all, the 12 m 8700 LE is one of the most distinctive and beautiful LE vehicles of the past.

  • After all, the 12 m 8700 LE is one of the most distinctive and beautiful LE vehicles of the past.

The truest comment. This is the most beautiful bus. When I was a child, I looked up to it and was amazed. The lights, the mirror, the incredibly good gearbox and that wild sound, the air conditioning, the huge windows, the smooth brake, the comfort that can be associated with Volvo. In the past, here in Hungary, I considered this bus to be the most comfortable, because of its seats, the automatic transmission doesn't jerk me, only sometimes, but that is unfortunately caused by aging. 🫠 So, my biggest dream would be to ride a Volvo 8700 in OMSI 2 one day.

It doesn't matter if it's now or 2 years from now.

Remember, a good project takes time. Let's give developers time to thank them later. All the best!❤️

Fun fact: I am writing this, sitting on a 8700.

  • 8700 with a transmission that doesn't jerk? You must be dreaming.
