  • Hello everyone! Today, I downloaded the Tettau map that was posted here, but after downloading it, I noticed that there are clear skies in almost all areas, except for a small area "Betriebshof Tettau". I would really appreciate your help! I really want to play on this map :(

  • Oh, I'm sorry. I added a log file. By the way, it says in the log file that many objects are missing or the wrong path to them is specified. :( This is strange, since it was written in the description of the map that you do not need to download anything additional.

  • Yes, I downloaded and reinstalled the card twice, but the error was repeated. By the way, when unpacking, the system complained about "Such a file already exists, do you want to replace it with another, newer one?", although I unpacked to a completely empty folder on the desktop...

  • After some time, I finally managed to find a solution to this issue. It occurs due to a mismatch in the Windows encoding for non-Unicode programs. By default, OMSI expects the system to use Windows-1252 encoding (Latin script, used for example in German). However, on systems where, for example, Windows-1251 encoding (Cyrillic) is set by default, some characters are missing or processed incorrectly. As a result, OMSI cannot load certain map files.

The solution is quite simple and involves changing the system locale for non-Unicode programs. This can be done in just a few clicks:

    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. In the search bar, type "local" or "localisation".
    3. Select "Change date, time, or number formats".
    4. In the window that opens, go to the "Administrative" tab.
    5. Under the section "Language for non-Unicode programs", click on "Change system locale".
    6. Set the system locale to German and click "OK".

You may need to restart your computer after this. In the end, the map now loads correctly and works perfectly! :read:

I’ve also prepared an illustrated guide (although it’s in Russian, I hope it’s still understandable from a visual point of view):

  • Thank you for this! I'm so happy that I found this, it has really helped me, as I had this same problem with Ruhrau V2, and I was searching for a solution for weeks. And now it works perfectly, thanks to your solution. Although my system isn't cyrillic, it seems that some german characters are missing from hungarian too, so this is a universal solution for this kind of problem it seems. So really, thank you! :)

  • The problem is that u gonna have a new keyboard at the language selection tool, and it's good only for German maps.... I have problems with Polish maps, Hungarian maps and Russian maps... but most of the maps need German as Non Unicode chars
