4GB Patch no longer works

    The 4GB patch used to work perfectly fine until a couple months ago. I took a break from OMSI and now it doesn't work at all. I didn't use to have any issues playing the game for hours at a time without any memory issues but now it crashes after an hour due to low RAM even on lighter maps such as Ahlheim 3. I use the same settings as I have before I stopped playing. I have tried reinstalling OMSI and patching it multiple times to no avail. It always says that the executable was successfully patched but it's always the same. My PC has 32GB RAM.


    Just about half an hour ago it crashed with a popup saying "Zu wenig Arbeitsspeicher" (Not enough RAM) when OMSI's RAM usage wasn't even 1,5GB.


    Also does anyone know if it's possible to patch OMSI running on Linux via Proton?

    Had to trim down the logfile because it was too long, it was the same errors over and over again for thousands of lines.

    Have you installed any Updates, Patches or DLC? Anytime you do that, it needs a full reinstall of the 4GB Patch.


    Besides, check your settings (especially those under "Graphics", "Graphics Enhanced" and "Traffic"). And check if the option "load whole map at start" is deactivated, that tears down the performance massively, depending on the map you're on

    I have reinstalled OMSI and reapplied the patch multiple times since the last time I bought or updated any DLC. My settings are fairly high, but like I said I used the same settings before and never had this issue until now. And yes I have Load whole map at start disabled.

    I'm sorry to say that this is happening to me also. Many maps stopped working because of memory problems after I had played for almost two years without any problems.
    Some work very good, but sat some of the the bus start jumping... BRT Berling, Bad Hügelsdorf 2020 and Bremen..

    It all started after updating Bremen to 2.3.1 and nothing helps.

    I reinstalled OMSI 2 twice , after that checked all the files again and again, ran 4GB many times, and lowered graphic details almost to nothing... still doesn't work for me.

    So Iäm really looking for advice...

    Do you have the Enhanced Environment Pack installed? Try disabling that if so.

    Do you have any launch params in Steam active (e.g. logall)? Try kicking them out too

    You said you're playing on LINUX? Then try installing this mod:


    It may improve the general performance.



    And please provide us some Screenshots of your settings, maybe there's something to see.

    There are several improvements possible:

    1) "Graphics": set targeted framerate higher, to 60 or even 120 FPS (depending on your equipment)

    2) "Graphics Advanced":

    - remove the Bump Map

    - increase the Max Tex Mem to about 2/3rd of your available RAM (I've got 12GB, so it's at about 8GB / 8024 MB)

    3) "AI-Trafic": reduce the number of scheduled vehicles, 100 are absolutely enough


    And please check under "Advanced" if the option "Load whole map at start" is deactivated 🙃

    10x gonna try it - and no, no all map load....

    I already fixed it. Turned out I needed to update my GPU drivers. I'm playing on Windows but I'm slowly transitioning to Linux. I'll try it out sometime.

    TheBlueCatMan please provide a new logfile. And you should check your drivers, same what delusion did. Maybe there's also an Update needed

    My drivers are up to date regularly... and all the steps above didn't help these three maps...

    The other maps I checked are all right offiicail DLC and freeware

    Just Bremen, BRT, and Bad 2020 - 3 maps I never had a problem with before...
